Bruiser

Bridget has has a rough couple of days.  She still isn't digging her new bed.  On Saturday night, Andy was gone all night for a bachelor party, so I just let her sleep with me so I wouldn't have to battle her and deal with big sis.  Sunday afternoon, she fell asleep on the couch at nap time and I carried her up to her bed.

She was PISSED when she woke up in the bed!  She just lay there pounding her feet and screaming at me when she woke up.  On Sunday night, she kept standing at the door screaming.  Audrey came out of her room at one point and said "I can't sleep with all of Bridget's loud screaming."  At around 10 pm, she was so tired that she fell asleep in the bed with Andy sitting on the floor next to it. Last night, after 10, she finally said "I want Audrey's room," so I put her in Audrey's bed and she fell right asleep!  Punk!

We took the girls on a wagon ride around the neighborhood on Sunday and Amos clotheslined her with his leash.  She has a rope burn on her neck and cheek from that, then yesterday she tried to either ride or carry a ride on toy down the front steps, so she also has a shiner under her eye.  After she fell down the stairs, smarty pants Audrey said "See, Bridget - that's why we don't ride cars down the stairs."

We had gymnastics last night and I felt the need to explain what had happened to everyone and let them know that we didn't punch B in the face and then try to strangle her!  She has her 2 year check up tomorrow morning, so Andy gets to explain it all to the doctor.  Bridget is really making me realize what an easy kid Audrey is! :)

Circus Freaks

We sold Bridget's crib on Wednesday and finally made it to buy her a twin mattress on Friday, so her big girl room is almost done!  She likes sitting on the bed but when it came to bedtime on Friday night, she freaked out if we tried to leave her in the room alone.  We ended up just letting her crash in our bed and carrying her down the hall.  She stayed there all night and didn't roll out though, so that was good!
Little B has been pretty bossy since turning two.  When she wants something, she demands it while pounding her hand on the table, and while she has always been good about saying thank you, she's not so good with please.  We have been working on that, except now when she wants something, she'll ask once and then demand "Peas? peas? peas?" while pounding her hand on the table!

We took the kids to the circus on Saturday afternoon and I must say, it was a little underwhelming.  Audrey oohed and aahed at it, but Bridget was bored by the second half and I thought most of it was kind of boring.  The acrobats were impressive and the elephants were cool - Audrey said the elephants were her favorite too.

I took Audrey shopping to get some summer clothes. We already have different ideas about what is cute and she's only 4!  I kept picking out outfits and she would find something wrong with each - "I don't like the blue on that."  "I don't like palm trees."  She picked out a blue tie dyed sun dress and no matter what I tried to get her to switch with it, she wouldn't do it.  I guess I have a future hippie on my hands!

This is what Andy and Bridget were doing while Audrey and I were out:
(note for the Grandma's:  the hatchet was pretty dull so Bridget was not in danger of hacking her own leg off)

Fiesta!

We had Bridget's Dora birthday fiesta on Sunday.  She was so excited when we started putting the decorations out that she was marching around the dining room singing Happy Birthday.  I found a Dora tiara/sash set that she wore around like a diva throughout most of her party:

Since we have so many toys and not a lot of 2T summer clothes, I asked everyone to get her clothes.  You wouldn't think a 2 year old would want clothes, but she looked at each outfit and card as we opened them!
On Monday evening, we had our first mom/tot gymnastics class.  I did this with Audrey when she was about 19 months and it was a disaster.  She didn't want to do any of the activities and I spent the entire time chasing her around the gym.  Bridget was the complete opposite - she had a blast!

We started out by doing some warm up exercises.  The other parents were holding their kids arms trying to get them to touch their toes and stretch.  Bridget pushed me away and said "I do it, Mommy."  She tried to imitate all of the moves the teacher was doing.  The instructor used a different kid to demonstrate each activitiy (balance beam, bars, summersaults, etc) and Bridget kept trying to run to her yelling "My turn! My turn!"  After she did each activity, she would yell "I did it!!"  It was adorable.  We may have a future Mary Lou Retton on our hands!

My little biologist, Audrey, made her plastic giraffes a tree to eat from.  I thought it was pretty good! :)

The other day, she told Andy that we need 3 dogs instead of 2.  He asked her what kind of dog she wanted and she said "Roscoe.  I'm going to go to doggy heaven and get Roscoe back!"  :( She loves Amos - they are always wrestling together, but she still asks about Roscoe every once in a while.  Poor Amos will never live up to the legend that was Roscoe!

Valentine's Day

I came home from work on Monday to find Bridget passed out on the living room floor with dried up cookie icing all over her face and Audrey on a sugar high from all of the Valentine's candy that they got from the Grandparents.  (I forgot to lay out their cute little Valentine's shirts for Daddy to dress the girls in, so Bridget is wearing her lovely LL Bean trapping sweater)

Andy made dinner

and brought the girls roses

and then we decorated a cake for him.

It was a pretty low key Valentine's Day, but I wouldn't want to spend it any other way!  I think I'm about ready for Bridget's party this weekend - I still can't believe my baby is almost 2!

Here is the birthday girl dancing to another favorite song of hers - she concentrates very hard to clap at the right parts!

Prince Charming

We had a pretty fun weekend of birthday celebrations.  The twins party was at the bowling alley.  I mentioned previously about how Audrey has a fear of leaving/losing stuff.  She carried her jacket around for the first half hour of the party because she didn't want to forget it on the back of a chair.  She then had a little meltdown when her bowling ball stopped in the gutter and was stuck.  Bridget liked going up to the aisle with the ball, but would then cry when I pushed it down the lane.

That evening, the Farbotko side of the family came up to celebrate Grandma Mary's 60th birthday with grilled shrimp and steak.  Yum!  Grandma brought the kids some Valentine's gifts and Bridget walked around wearing a tiara and clip on earring for the first portion of the night.  She would stop every once in a while and swing her head so the earrings would move.  It was cute and of course, I don't have a photo.  I almost got a shot of Andy in the tiara and earrings but I wasn't quick or sneaky enough!

Audrey is a chocoholic but every time she would get a piece of Valentine's candy, she would get one for Bridget and say "Happy Valentine's Day Bridget!"

Yesterday was beautiful out, so I made the girls and dogs stay outside for a good portion of the day.  Audrey came in while Bridget was napping and painted a tea set that Aunt Steph got her for Christmas.  We are all ready for a tea party now!

Amos was tuckered out by the end of the day.  He was so sleepy and his skin is so droopy that I couldn't see his eyes when he came in.  I don't know how he could even see with those droopy eyes!

Last night, Enchanted was on TV.  Audrey has never seen it before and I thought she would lose interest once it became live action instead of animated, but she was glued to the TV for the entire movie.  At the end of the movie, Andy and I noticed that she was just sitting on the couch looking really pissed off (and yes, that is Amos that she is leaning on).  I asked her what was wrong and she said "Why didn't Giselle go with Prince Charming?"
"Because he wasn't her true love.  The other guy, Robert, was."

"But why?"

"That's just how love works.  You don't always end up with Prince Charming.  The other guy was her true love."

"But Ariel falls in love with Prince Eric!"  This went on for about 10 minutes after the movie ended.  I guess her image of Happily Ever After with Prince Charming was shattered when Giselle didn't end up with the prince!

Niki Van Farbotkogh

I mentioned a few posts ago that we thought we had a breakthrough with Bridget sleeping in her bed, but it turns out that it was a one night fluke.  Bedtime has been the same struggle since - we either have to sit by the bed, rock her to sleep, or let big sis sleep in the toddler bed with her.  If we try to leave her in her room while she is still awake, she comes out to the hallway, stands in the hallway and just stares at us.  It's kind of creepy when you don't notice her walk up!  Last night we tried to ignore her and Andy found her asleep sitting up against her bedroom door.

She better get used to it soon because for her birthday, we are setting up her twin bed.  I am selling the crib to a friend from college and it makes me kind of sad to think that we won't need a crib again.  I could not find a purple and yellow twin bed set (at least that I liked), so her room is now going to be purple and white with lime green accents.  I will post pictures when it's done.

Picture time!  This is how I found Audrey when I got home from work on Wednesday:  Jammies (that she didn't wear to bed, so she picked them out just to wear around the house), black cowboy hat, and ladybug wings and skirt.

On Wednesday night, I went to a painting studio with Tina and a couple of friends.  It was so much fun!  Here are the artists at work:

Our next couple of weekends will be busy.  We have ballet, the twins birthday party and Grandma Mary's birthday this weekend, then next weekend we are having a small Dora birthday fiesta for Bridget!

5 Little Monkeys

Bridget has been walking around singing the 5 Little Monkeys song a lot lately.  Her favorite part is the last verse.  It's my favorite part too because she's so stinkin' cute yelling at the monkeys!

I forgot to mention in the joke post that when Audrey tells a joke, she tells you that she's "teasing a joke."  Or if you say something silly to her, she says "Mommy, are you teasing a joke?"
