Not A Bully!

I got called into work today so I had to bring the girls to daycare. I asked the Director about Audrey's behavior and she said that the only reason she brought it up to Andy was that it was so unusual for A to act that way. I told her that I was worried all night that Audrey was a bully and she said "No way! Audrey is too sweet to be a bully!"

So, once again, Mommy overreacts and assumes that she is raising a socially awkward meany! Alas, she is not, but I still plan on finding some activities for us. Tina wants us to join her MOMS Club, so that is one option if I can't find anything else.

I don't think it's fair that most of the rec activities are during day in the middle of the week. It seems to punish those of us working moms. Anywho, back to work!

Bully!

On Saturday evening, Audrey fell asleep on the couch at 6:30pm. We tried to wake her, but she was still feeling crummy, so Andy finally carried her up to bed at 8. Big mistake! She was wide awake and hungry at 2 am. Andy brought her down for a snack and then she came into our room and talked my ear off! She rambled on and on and on about anything and everything. She came with me to feed Bridget at 5:30 and talked B's ear off ("Hi Bridget! What you doing Bridget? Look, her eyes are waking up!), so the baby was then up for the day too! I survived until about 9 am when I realized that I didn't have the energy to lift my cereal spoon. I got Andy up and Bridget and I took a 2 1/2 hour nap!

Sunday night, we were determined to wear Audrey out. She seemed to be feeling better, so we went on a walk with the dogs to try and see the cows in the field outside of the neighborhood. Unfortunately, they were too far away to really see, but on the way back she saw the pool and wanted to go swimming.

It was getting close to 8, so we just stuck her in a swim suit and Andy got in his (plus I don't have a suit or swim diapers for B yet). It was funny watching her progression to the water. She started out by standing really far back, then she lay on the side and splashed Daddy with her hands, then her feet went in, then she played on the first step, then the second step... soon she let Andy carry her across the pool and by the time we left, she was jumping off the side to Andy!

She crashed when we got home (yay), but then woke up at 2 am (boo). Luckily she went back down fairly easily.

Andy got a bad report about her when he picked her up from school today. They told him that she was pushing kids and hitting their cups when they were trying to drink, thus spilling on them. They also said that she was really quiet and asked if she was around a lot of other kids.

I'm not sure what her being around kids has to do with her being a bully, but of course now I'm all worried that she has bad social skills! I am trying to use this to convince Andy to put her in daycare more often, but he thinks she'll just be a bigger bully. Maybe I need to find an activity to sign her up for. Most of the ones I've found so far are on days I have to work, so I'll have to keep looking!

There was also a new girl in the baby room who told Andy that Bridget is "uniquely beautiful." We are trying to figure out what that odd phrase means - is she almost ugly, but not quite? Nah, she's pretty damn cute!

Audrey's Turn :(

Audrey woke up in the middle of the night and threw up three times. She seemed fine when she first woke up, but then complained that her tummy hurt and fell asleep on the chair with Puppy. When she woke up, she was on fire. I took her temp - 102.5. The CHOA nurse advise line said that I don't need to bring her in, so we just have to tough it out. I am assuming that it's the same bug that Bridget had on Wednesday, it's just hitting poor Audrey harder for some reason. She requested Cinderella, so we are snuggled on the couch watching a movie today instead of attending her buddy Lynzie's birthday party.

Grandma Mary watched the girls yesterday and had a cute photo shoot with Bridget. Here are three of my favorites:

Bridget is taking after her big sis in the fact that anything that she can get a grip on goes straight to her mouth. The only difference is that she doesn't crane her neck trying to lick nearby objects like Audrey used to! Bridget is a major drooly-kins (as I call her) and I thought maybe she would teethe early like Audrey, but her pedi didn't see any signs of tooth buds yet. I think we are going to have to tie a bucket under her chin when she does start teething since she drools so badly already!

I'm testing this new text-to-blog feature. Bridget weighed 12 lbs. 2 oz. at the pedi yesterday & fit into the newborn diaper that they gave me!

Revelation

I don't know why it has taken me almost four months to figure this out, but Bridget does not like noise! She gets really upset when the dogs bark or if you talk too loud while holding her and gets really overwhelmed when all of the cousins are around! Lately she has been getting fussy around 9 pm and we figured out that if we go put her in her dark quiet room, she will go to sleep, even if we lay her down still awake. Imagine that! I've been applying this to nap time too and now, instead of taking a bunch of little cat naps all day, she will take nice long naps in her crib.

Last night I was going to have her sleep in the bassinet since she was sick, but she wanted nothing to do with it. She also takes up most of the room in it now, so I think it's time to pack it up and free up some space in my bedroom.

Bridget seems to be doing much better today. She had a screaming fit this morning, so I gave her some Tylenol and started singing to her, which make her laugh every time. I guess my voice is pretty bad! She has been quietly napping in her crib for an hour and a half now. Hopefully she'll wake up in a good mood!

Audrey went #2 on the potty all on her own this morning, so I think we are making some headway. Yay!!

Baby's First Fever

I had a "bad mommy" day today. When I got Bridget up this morning, I thought she felt kind of warm. I took her temperature and it wasn't very high, plus she ate fine and was all smiley, so I just attributed it to it being warm in the house plus she was sleeping zipped up in a sleeper blanket.
So, when my cell phone rang at 11:15 and it said "Daycare" on the caller ID, I immediately knew why they were calling and felt like crap for sending a sick kid to daycare.
I called the pediatrician on the way to pick her up and went straight there (I left Audrey at daycare to make everything easier).
For someone with a fever, Bridget sure was a happy baby at the doctor's office! She just layed on the table and smiled at herself in the mirror. The doctor had a hard time getting her to turn her head so she could check her ears because she was so into her reflection!
They got a urine sample to test for a bacterial infections, which came back fine, so they think she just has a viral infection. The doc said that the fever can last from 48-72 hours and I'm hoping she is just as content for the next couple of days as she was today. They gave me a free bottle of Infant Tylenol, so that was nice!
I thought I was being this awesome potty trainer by getting rid of all of the diapers and only having pull ups and big girl undies in the house. I bought two big packs of Huggies Cool Alert Pull Ups and guess what? They give her a rash! The poor kid has never really had diaper rash until I stuck her in Pull Ups! During my Tuesday late night Kroger run last night, I had to buy some diapers to put her in at bed and naptime so her little tushy won't be raw.
We are maybe making progress with the potty training. She goes pee pee on the potty about once a day and I've noticed that whenever she asks for a diaper or underwear, she pees shortly thereafter. She must be getting the concept of when she has to go, she just needs to figure out to sit on the potty instead of going on the floor!
As you can see from the photo, she also has the reading on the potty technique down!
Speaking of going to the store, since I had my big $70 savings week using the Grocery Game, I've only had a couple of $40 saving weeks. It seems like the same stuff is always on sale. I can only use so much Grillmates Seasonings, salad dressing and BBQ sauce! I did rack up with the Lysol sale they had this week. I have enough cleaning supplies to open my own cleaning company and I paid very little for them, like 0.29 for toilet bowl cleaner! It's kind of sad that these things excite me.
That reminds me, B's pediatrician told me that she liked my "mommy haircut." I already was worried that it made me look older, then she said that! It looks like I'll be growing it out! One of the older guys at work calls me Halle (like Halle Berry) though, so that makes me feel a little better! :)

Rollin'

I haven't posted in a while because we haven't been doing anything exciting! I have decided to quit being so lazy with potty training, so I haven't bought diapers for Audrey since we ran out. When we are home, I keep her in her underwear or naked and use Pull Ups for sleeping and going out. She's gone in her potty about once a day and luckily she's had a pull up on each time she's gone #2! The bad thing about Pull Ups is that they don't hold much. One leaked while we were out to eat with Cousin Ian last night. Luckily I had extra shorts in the car!

In Bridget news, she can now roll from her back to front. She's been sleeping in her crib for the past week or so but some nights she'll wake up every two hours. I think it's because she's lonely, so on those nights, if I'm really tired, I end up bringing her back to my room.

Yesterday morning Emma came over to play for a couple of hours while her parents ran a 5K (way to go!). I got some cute shots of the girls playing dress up

Yesterday I was having one of those I-really-need-a-change-moments and went and got all of my hair chopped off. Here is a crappy picture that I took with my phone last night.

I told Andy that I was afraid that it made me look older. He said "Well, the color is just so obvious that you dyed it to cover the gray. Once it fades a little, it will look nice." I was a little confused by this statement as I did not have my hair dyed! I think my hair is getting darker as I get older though!

And finally, here is a video Andy took of Audrey playing with Bridget:
