My Little Artists

We had a fairly packed weekend planned, but Bridget started Friday night with a low fever.  Here she is before the fever hit in her cute new Minnie Mouse hat from Grandma Mary.
Andy had to go into work on Saturday, so I kept B drugged up with Tylenol so we could get through the day.  After ballet, we went to Target to look at shoes because Audrey only has 2 pairs at home (one of which she doesn't like).  I let her pick out a pair, and she is the proud new owner of some pink cowboy boots!
That afternoon, we went to Emma's 5th birthday party.  Emma loves art and had her party at a painting studio.  Here are the little artists:

The girls got to paint a butterfly canvas. The instructor had the butterfly sketched out in pencil and walked the girls through painting it.  They started by painting the background.  Of course, Audrey picked red.
Even though she is too little to follow the instructions, Amanda was nice enough to set up a canvas for Bridget so she wouldn't be left out.  I painted her background for her, let her go to town on the butterfly part, then finished it off.

Here is Audrey working on hers.  She got a little eager and just painted the whole thing blue instead of painting sections of the wings, but that's ok.  I asked her if she wanted to add more colors or a pattern and she said no.  It's her butterfly after all!

And here are the final products.  Even the instructor thought that mine and B's group effort turned out pretty cool and Audrey's smiley face on hers is adorable.

Poor feverish Bridget was pitiful by the end of the party because her fever was back, so we just went home and relaxed for the rest of the night.  We had planned on going to a pumpkin farm on Sunday, but even though B slept in and seemed ok, we decided to keep her home to make sure.

Since Audrey likes to sleep in B's room, Amos has decided to take over Audrey's room.  This is where I found him this morning.  He and Avalanche both sleep in there most nights.
Since we were kind of home bound today, I decided to empty out all of Bridget's summer stuff and filled her drawers with the winter clothes.  I had Andy take the 3T box down from the attic but after looking through the clothes, I think it's going to be a while before she is in 3T.  The pants were about half the length of B's body!  The girls played in the playroom and played house most of the day.  Here is Bridget as the baby - I think she's a little too big for the baby doll pack 'n play.

Bridget-isms

I am always posting about the funny stuff that Audrey says, but Bridget is becoming pretty goofy too!  I've been keeping track of some of the cute stuff she says too:

When she wakes up on her own in the morning, she will come and find me and say "I done shleeping!"

She was singing a song from Yo Gabba Gabba that goes "Don't, don't, don't bite your friends."  She stopped singing and said "If you bite your friends, they get boo boo.  If you eat your friends, they get really big boo boo and cry 'Wah!'!"

She loves to sing and can often be heard singing Katy Perry's "Firework" or Cee Lo Green's "Forget You."  She calls that one the "I Got Change In My Pocket Song"

When she goes poopy, she calls me to the bathroom and says "Close your eyes!"  Then she leads me to the toilet and says "Ta daa!"  What a lovely surprise!

She came into the bathroom while I was showering the other day and stood outside of the shower pointing at me and saying "Big!  Big butt!"  A couple of days later, I was changing her and said "Who has a cute butt?"  She replied with "Who has a cute big butt?"  "Are you talking about me, B?"  "Yesh!"  I suppose I need to start watching what I eat!

When I asked her what she wanted for dinner the other day, she said "Chickens with Happy Toy."  Translation: chicken nugget Happy Meal.

Last Saturday at ballet, she couldn't remember the other little sister's name, so she would just say "Come on Baby Girl" and grab her hand.  Baby Girl is about 3 months younger than her and a little bit taller, but I guess since Bridget is older, she can call her a baby! ;)

Grandma Mary took Bridget to the dollar store one day while Audrey was in school.  She let her pick out any toy she wanted, and she chose a pink calculator!  It's especially funny because when Cousin Ryan was around the same age, Tina let the boys each pick out a toy at BJ's and Ty and Jack got some kind of toy and Ryan chose a two pack of calculators!  I think we have two little math nerds on our hands!

Last weekend, Andy's Uncle Jon was in town for business, so the girls got to meet their great uncle for the first time.  Audrey talked his ear off (as usual), but Bridget was so serious and barely cracked a smile the entire day.  Here she is seriously taking a picture with Great Uncle Jon and Uncle Alex
Ian brought his Jeep over, and while Audrey loved to ride in it, she was too scared to drive it.  The one time she got in the drivers side, she would only press the pedal and not steer.  Because of this, she nearly decapitated her poor sister who was in the passenger seat as the Jeep went right towards Andy's open tail gate on his truck.  Needless to say, the girls will not be getting a Jeep!

Fun at the Fair

Yesterday evening, the Bryant's came up and we all went to the Cumming Country Fair.  Last year, Audrey wouldn't do any of the rides and she started out a little hesitant this time, but she ended up having a blast!

We started off with the petting zoo, which was a big hit with the kids.
We told Audrey that it was a rule that you have to wear jeans to the fair because it's dirty there. Luckily,  it wasn't until we were leaving to come home that she looked over at Andy and said "Hey, you aren't wearing jeans, you're wearing shorts!"
After the petting zoo, we figured we would start the kids on something easy as it would be the first time any of them had been on a fair ride.  We went to a Nemo ride that goes in a slow circle and goes up and down a little bit.  Audrey wouldn't ride it, but the other three had fun.

We went to the carousel next.  Audrey got on and then tried to jump off of the horse and stand next to me.  I told her that they wouldn't start the ride until she got back on, so she reluctantly got on.  She held on tight the whole time, but she ended up having fun.

Everyone was kind of hungry at this point, so we spent a fortune on delicious, greasy fair food.  Andy bought the obligatory funnel cake for dessert and also got some deep fried Oreos.  They were not as good as we were expecting them to be - they were pretty soggy.

The kids were all pumped up and ready to go after eating, so we found a little zoo train that just goes in a circle around the track.  Dylan and Bridget were barely shorter than the height requirement and the mean fair lady wouldn't  let them on.  They were so sad, so Alex and I took them over to ride the Nemo ride again.

Andy took pity on them and decided to shell out the bucks to let them all ride the ponies. Ian loved it so much that at one point I heard him yelling "I'm riding a horse!!"

After that, the big kids rode the Dumbo ride.  It goes kind of high so I thought Audrey would be a little scared, but she wasn't.

At this point, Audrey realized that she hadn't ridden the Nemo ride, so we went back and rode that again (ride #3 for the little ones).

We finished the evening off back at the petting zoo for one final walk through.

On the way home, Audrey said "I have a tummy ache."  I told her that is how you know that you had a good time at a fair!

Fashionista

Audrey has never like wearing jeans.  She likes what she calls "soft pant," which are knit pants.  Unfortunately for me, I have a bunch of cute size 6 jeans with cute embroidery and embellishments for her to try this winter.  I put a pair of jeans on her yesterday and she said "I can't wear these.  They are too... farmy!"  I told her to go pick out her own clothes and this is what she ended up with.  A little funky, but not bad:
Today, Grandpa Pete came up to babysit.  I pulled out 2 outfits that I thought she would like and was going to let her choose which one to wear.  Of course, she didn't like either, so I told Grandpa just to let her pick something out and as long as she didn't look too bad, just let her wear it.   She actually did a good job today:
It ended up being kind of warm today, and Grandpa said that he asked her if she was too hot today, to which she replied "No, I wasn't hot.  I was just sweaty."  It looks like I am going to have to go out and buy a bunch of funky tights for her this winter.

Bridget has been funny lately too.  While on the potty the other day, she excitedly told me "Mommy, poopies are brown and your eyes brown!"  Very nice B!

Perfect Weekend

It is finally feeling like fall out and the weather is perfect right now! We started the weekend off with ballet class.  I brought Bridget along for the first time this season, mainly to play with another 2 year old little sis, but she was more interested in peeking in the door and watching the big girls do ballet.
Her little friend had to squeeze in and watch too.

After we got home, we got the Halloween decorations out and I printed out a Halloween countdown calendar plus an advent one where you open the doors and find Halloween activities to do.
That evening, Scott and Ethan came over for dinner while Ethan's mommy is out of town.  Audrey really likes Scott and was very excited.  We ran into one of her ballet friends at Walmart last Thursday and I heard Audrey tell her "My Uncle Scott and Cousin Ethan are coming over this weekend!"

It was nice for me because instead of "Mommy?  Mommy?"  all night, it was "Hey Scott?  Scott?" while she chatted his ear off!

I also got to play with my camera finally - it had been in Richmond with Andy and I just discovered where he put it when he got home a couple of weeks ago.

This morning, we went outside to ride the girls bikes.  Santa brought these last year but they hadn't really had much interest in them until today.  I brought the bikes up to the street so we could ride to the stop sign and back.  At first, Safety Patrol Audrey wouldn't go.  "Get out of the street!  You'll get hit by a car!  Watch out for cars!!"  Bridget can't pedal yet, so I had to grab the handle and pull her down the street, which killed my back, but we made it!
Audrey finally got brave enough to ride, but the chain kept getting caught on something, so Andy had to fix it.  Bridget grabbed a socket wrench and helped.

After that, we couldn't keep Audrey off the bike.  She stuck her puppy Nora in the basket in front and rode that thing around all day!  During this trip to the stop sign, Bridget insisted on holding the handle bar the whole way - I think since I held her handle bars, she felt the need to hold Audrey's.  :)

School Days

While I was picking up Audrey from school the other day, I noticed that there were pictures of animals that the kids drew up on the wall.  From afar, I could see a bunch of scribble-looking kid drawings and one that I could tell was a dog.
When I got closer, I noticed that the cute little polka dotted dog was Audrey's!  (I realize it looks like it says "bop," but Audrey flipped the paper after the teacher wrote "dog" on it)
On another wall, there was a posterboard where the teacher asked the kids "What makes you angry" and wrote down their answers.  Audrey's was "When Bridget jumps on my bed."  There was also a self portrait hanging up - of course she is wearing a red dress, but I'm a little concerned about the green hair!
I was trying to get a picture of baby turtle Charlie next to baby turtle Kaitlyn so you could see how tiny she is.  I thought Charlie was tiny until Kaitlyn hatched!
I got the proofs back from the girls school pictures and they turned out adorable!  I am glad that they are so cute because I will probably use them for Christmas pictures - last year I couldn't get my butt in gear to go to the photo studio so I never even sent cards out. :(

There's not much else going on around here.  The weather is cooling off and the girls and I are going to decorate for Halloween this weekend - I've already been asked "Is Halloween tomorrow?" a billion times.  It's going to be a long month!
