Home Alone

Today, I went to a consignment store and to a lady's house from craigslist to get some winter clothes for Audrey. In total, I spent $56 and I got a pair of brand new Stride Rite Mary Janes, a set of 3 jungle wall hangings for Audrey's bathroom, 3 pairs of pajamas, 3 sweaters, a dress, 9 pairs of pants, and 11 tops! I love saving money on second hand clothes (while Audrey is too little to know the difference). I just can't figure out how these people keep toddler clothes so freakin' clean? I probably won't be able to sell 3/4 of Audrey's tops because she is so messy. Anyone have any stain fighting tips?

I spoke too soon in my last post when I said that Audrey doesn't know her colors yet. She can say red, yellow and purple, but if you ask her what color something is, she always says "Red!"

Tonight, Andy is at the Braves game and Audrey is spending the night with Grandma and Grandpa F, so I am on my own. I have no idea what to do with myself! I found a website where you can publish your blog into a little book, so I may try to do that for all of my 2007 posts tonight. I figure that since this is essentially Audrey's baby book, I should probably print it out yearly.

My Hot Dog Has A First Name...

Audrey and Grandpa Pete saw the Wienermobile at Walmart and had to stop for a photo:

Audrey did much better at her tumbling class yesterday. They had yet another new teacher, who was really good with the little ones. Audrey walked on the high beam and the low beam, and did a forward somersault and a backwards somersault (with a little help of course). Next week is our last class, just when she's starting to get the hang of things! I'm going to have to find another activity for us to go do this fall.

While looking at her favorite animal picture book yesterday, she identified three new animals: a bull, an ostrich and a sea horse. She might not know her colors yet, but she can name most of the major land and sea animals. Look out Bindi Irwin!

I would like to give a shout out to whomever invented Zofran, the anti-nausea medication. I feel like a new woman! No more all day nausea - hooray!

Arriving February 21st - Baby Farbotko: The Sequel!

Audrey is very excited to announce that she is going to be a big sister around February 21st! The pregnancy happened a little sooner than we had planned, but I was feeling crummy during the last week of June and my instincts told me to buy a pregnancy test. I got to have an ultrasound today and you can see the giant head to the left, arm buds and a torso. I also had the midwife write me a prescription for something for my morning sickness. I can't wait to go to the pharmacy!! Every time I'm hovered over the toilet, I think "Why did I want to do this again?" ;)

Audrey got some practice with a baby over the weekend. The Welch's spent Saturday night with us. Our old friend from high school was in town, so Christy's family, Jenny's family and Rachel all came over and we had so much fun! We stayed up until 2:30 am talking about high school and gossiping about who's doing what now. Luckily for everyone else, I couldn't drink, so I got up with all of the kids at 7 am while everyone else slept off their hangovers!
Here is Audrey trying out baby Sophia's car seat. It make a nice puzzle chair. Can you believe Audrey used to look so tiny in these seats?
Here she is helping Miss Christy feed Sophie her breakfast.
This is how poor Sophie looked after Audrey was done feeding her. Audrey also tried to help give her a bath afterwards. She got by the tub with Christy and was pretending to dump water over Sophie's hair!

Mommy? Whah You?

I can't believe that I forgot to post last week that Audrey finally started calling me Mommy! Now, it's non-stop "Mommy, whah you?" "Mommy? Mommy?" It's super cute!

We had gymnastics again yesterday. It was much better organized with the regular teacher, but I've come to realize that A) My kid doesn't follow directions well and B) My kid is a wild woman! I think she is still too young for this class. She just ran and ran, only did a couple of the activities, and spent a majority of the time trying to get a rubber ball that they used for a bowling station. I'm not sure what bowling has to do with tumbling, but whatever! At least she has fun in the class, even if she isn't learning anything. We may have to try something else next summer when she's a bit older.

Since I'm at work, here are a couple of pictures that I snapped with my iphone. We were returning from a walk and she was running down the yard, right into a bush!

"I'm okay!"

Baby's First Hair Cut

Tumbling was a bit of a disappointment. I think it was because the lady who was supposed to be the teacher was not there today, plus they just redid the floors at the gym and did not have all of the equipment. The girls that were there set up 5 stations and then just told us to go at it with no explanation of what to do at each station. We basically could have all gone to a bouncy house and let the kids run around like maniacs, because that's all that happened! Hopefully when the regular lady comes back next week, she will have some structured activities where the kids can actually learn something.

I think this picture sums up how the hair appointment went:

There was lots of screaming and wiggling. The hairstylist deserves some kind of medal for being able to cut bangs, trim the back and add a couple of layers into a moving toddler! I had to hold her body still while Tina held her arms and the stylist tried to control her head! In the end, it's adorable, although she looks like a little girl now instead of my baby. :(

I can't think of a witty title!

We didn't do anything exciting on the fourth. Andy spent the day taking down the rest of the tree that had fallen across our driveway and we discovered that a large branch had also fallen in the back and crushed a part of the fence. Luckily, the dogs did not notice that. Either that or they are just so well behaved that they stayed in the yard - ha, ha.
We went to a Fifth of July cookout on Saturday, which is where I took the picture of Miss Excitement here! She's modeling her new Fourth jewelry, which she refused to wear. She just carried it around all evening. She's not very girly sometimes!
I'm very excited for tomorrow. We have our first tumbling class in the morning, then we go to the Sweet & Sassy Salon for Audrey's first haircut! I can't stand her hair hanging in her face anymore. I had to laugh when the lady asked if I wanted to schedule a shampoo with that. We'll be lucky if Audrey sits still enough for her bangs to be cut, much less having to have her hair shampooed! I'm bringing Grandma Carol along to photo doc the event for us, so we should have some cute pictures tomorrow!

Home Sweet Home

Monday night, Audrey got to meet more great uncles and a great aunt, plus see Great Grandma Carm. Her Great Uncle Ronny borrowed a kiddie pool from a neighbor so Audrey had fun splashing around, although she wouldn't go in unless Mommy was standing in the pool with her.

Tuesday morning was the highlight of Andy's trip. We went to a Cabela's store! He's probably ordered everything off of their online catalog and was very excited to be in an actual store. It's in a new Mills Mall in St. Louis, and it's much nicer than our Mills Mall. I'm a little jealous!

The White Castle by Great Grandma's house was torn down, so I drug Andy and Audrey to a not-as-nice section of town so I could get my "belly bomber" fix. We spent the rest of Tuesday hanging around the house visiting, going to a local park and Andy made one more trip to Cabela's.

For most of the trip, Audrey fell asleep as soon as we got into the car. Unfortunately, she did not do this on the 10 hour drive home! She slept for maybe an hour and we kept her occupied for most of the way with the portable DVD player. She didn't get fussy until we were 30 minutes from the house. She's a pretty good little traveler!

The dogs are still at my folks house, but the first thing Audrey did when she got home was run into the back yard and yell "Hazel? Where's the ball?" She's going to be so excited to see them in the morning!

I was pretty lazy with taking pictures. I feel bad that I don't have any of Audrey with any of the seven great uncles, three great aunts and six second/third cousins that she met! Here is the sweet little dress she wore to the service. She got a lot of compliments on it from random people in the restaurant in Indiana. (Please ignore her sweaty messy hair. She's not a big fan of having her hair done lately, so I think I'm going to finally get it trimmed up soon, much to Daddy's dismay).

This is the bed hog. This was our king sized bed in Missouri. Andy had the tiny space by her head and I had the tiny space by her feet!

This is Audrey "roaring" at the lion at Brookfield Zoo. She's pretty scary!
