Where's Audrey?

Audrey LOVES her stuffed animals. Every morning we have to carry down anywhere from 5 to 15 of them. She either loads up both of our arms with animals or she makes a few trips until she has everyone she wants.

The other day, I went into her room to check on her at nap time. When I walked into the room, I couldn't find her! I thought maybe she had fallen asleep on the floor and had to walk around the bed to look for her. Can you find her amongst all of her animals?

I'm afraid Audrey is going to be a little bully when she goes to school. On Saturday, a neighbor stopped by to chat while we were outside playing. He had his 6 year old with him, and she and Audrey were running around the yard and throwing Hazel's ball together. The next thing we know, the 6 year old comes running over, both screaming and laughing. Audrey is behind her with two fists full of dirt yelling "I'm going to get you!" and trying to throw the dirt on her! I hate to say it, but it was really funny! This is the same neighbor who was here when Audrey tried to ride her bike down the driveway by herself - he must think she is a wild child. He may be right!
I had to share a picture of this cute figurine. My friend's sister custom makes these cute clay creations, and she made one of me, Audrey and Bridget!

One Month Old

Somehow in the blur of days, Bridget has turned a month old! Here is a snapshot of her this morning:

Here is Audrey's one month photo. I was going to post it to show Andy that the girls don't look exactly alike, but they look pretty darn similar in these photos!

For the past week, I finally feel like I am in a groove and can manage both kids! We even ventured up to the outlet mall by ourselves yesterday and I didn't lose anyone or cry about anything. ;)

There is nothing else exciting going on here. Below are some photos from my phone. Audrey climbed into the pack and play yesterday and was hugging Bridget and saying "I love you, Bridget." It melted Mommy's heart! I apologize for the sideways pics - it won't turn them for some reason.

This is kind of out of focus, but so sweet:

I wonder what they are both smiling about here? :)

Sisters

Audrey asked to hold Bridget for the first time yesterday. She was very happy holding her, until she realized that Little Einsteins was on and we were blocking her view of the TV. She yelled "I'm stuck!" until we moved the baby off of her lap. Someday poor little Bridget will be more fun for her!

Bridget's First Bath

I finally got around to giving Bridget her first bath today (mother of the year here). I think these photos summarize how she felt about it:

But, after all of that, she smells delicious (Burt's Bees products are the best!) and her hair is nice and fluffy. I realized that her head has had almost 3 weeks of people kissing on it - yuck!

I had to call her pediatrician this morning b/c she hasn't pooped in 5 days. I was told that it's normal for breast fed babies to not poop for 5-7 days, but that I may want to try "rectal stimulation," i.e. sticking a Q-tip up her tushie. If that doesn't work, I have to go buy baby suppositories. I'm going to give her until Saturday to try to go on her own because I know neither of us want to try the above suggestions!

Here is a picture I snapped with my phone of Little Miss Pensive.

Lots of Cuteness Over Here

Audrey is a total goofball lately. She has taken to calling Andy "Big Boy" for some reason. We have no idea where she picked that one up! Yesterday we were outside enjoying the 75 degree weather when a neighbor stopped by to see Bridget. Andy and I were standing at the top of the driveway and Audrey was at the bottom playing on a sit and scoot bike. I turned around and she had carried the bike half way up the driveway, faced it downhill and was about to swing her leg over to get on for the ride! Andy had to run down and grab her arm and stop her. Playing outside is going to be challenging with my little daredevil!

The other night, Audrey was sitting on our bed and she said that she was going to "play Hazel." Then she picked up her foot, scratched her head with it, and then started chewing in her toes, just like Hazel!

One Week Checkup

Well, technically we had Bridget's 11 day checkup today. After waiting in the waiting room for 45 minutes past our appointment time (grrr...), Miss Bridget weighed in at 7 lbs, 8.25 oz, so I guess dispite our nursing problems, she is gaining plenty of weight. On the downside, she has thrush, which is a yeast infection in her mouth, so we had to make her first trip to the Kroger Pharmacy. I have to give the poor thing drugs four times a day until the thrush is gone. I also have to treat myself so I don't get it - lovely!

Her big sis went to daycare yesterday to give Mommy a break and she had a blast. When she got home, she told me that she had a good day at school and that she played with Madison and McKenzie (whoever they are). She also asked me if I watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and I had to explain that I don't watch Playhouse Disney when she's not home!

What Day Is It Today?

My days have turned into a whirlwind of diapers, feedings and cleaning up. As soon as I get someone settled, it's time for the next kid, then repeat. The next thing I know, I look up and it's 4 pm and the day is almost done!

Other than the blur of days, things are going fairly well. Bridget is a little fussier than Audrey was because she gets really gassy and then screams until she toots. She also had a hard time nursing for a while, but I think she's finally getting the hang of it. The biggest problem is keeping her up long enough to eat, so I'll usually let her nurse on and off for 45 minutes, then top her off with a bottle so I can put my boobs away!

Audrey is adjusting ok, but she is getting really clingy with me. She always seems to urgently need something (like juice or her princess dress on) while I'm feeding the baby. She also goes into hysterics at nap and bedtime because she doesn't want me to leave. I had to put a door knob cover on the inside of her door because she tries to follow me out of the room. It's very pitiful and I feel bad for having to play "tough Mommy," but it's the only thing that works!

Audrey is very sweet with Bridget though. Every time she sees her, she says "Aww, look at the baby!" She tells Bridget that she's cute and that she's a pretty girl, and once when she was crying, Audrey said "What's the trouble? Do you need a hug?" My biggest problem is that I don't have anywhere to set Bridget down so I can do such trivial things as go to the bathroom or eat. I set her down in the pack and play to go to the bathroom the other day and came out to find this:

Then, Audrey stuck her head down and said "Cheese!"

These sweet moments totally make up for the moments when they are both crying and trying to get my attention. :)
